Saturday, October 28 It’s chilly this morning – about 28°, brrrr! I eat a quick breakfast and then break camp to drive down to Santa Rosa Lake State Park. Santa Rosa is on I-40 which is the route I will take when I start on my way to Florida Monday morning. Since it is a little further south, it will also be somewhat warmer.
Sunday, October 22 After studying the New Mexico Benchmark Atlas and checking weather forecasts, I decided to travel south to Las Vegas, NM where Storrie Lake State Park is located. It’s about 75 miles away but almost 2,000 feet lower in elevation. The weather forecast looks very pleasant for the next 10 days. A couple cooler days, but not bad.
October 18 I am ready to say goodbye to South Dakota and get back on the road. From Rapid City I drive back to Chatfield State Park in Denver area. I need to work on clearing out the small storage unit I have there. I had 8 boxes of books that I donated.
