On Monday, October 30th I leave Santa Rosa Park in New Mexico and board I40 heading east towards Texas. My plan is to take I40 as far as Amarillo where I will exit onto Hwy 287 towards Vernon, TX and then Hwy 82. It’s chilly this morning – about 28°, brrrr! I eat a quick breakfast and then break camp to drive down to Santa Rosa Lake State Park. After studying the New Mexico Benchmark Atlas and checking weather forecasts, I decided to travel south to Las Vegas, NM where Storrie Lake State Park is located. It’s about 75 miles away but almost 2,000 feet lower in elevation. The weather forecast looks very pleasant for the next 10 days. A couple cooler days, but not bad. Read More

I am ready to say goodbye to South Dakota and get back on the road. From Rapid City I drive back to Chatfield State Park in Denver area. I need to work on clearing out the small storage unit I have there. I had 8 boxes of books that I donated. Read More
After leaving Devils Tower National Monument, I head to Rapid City, SD where I’ll stay about a month. While there I need to get my South Dakota driver’s license, visit the social security office, my bank and take care of some other personal business matters. Also, I have a few minor warranty repairs on the Nash that need to be taken care of. I haven’t been stationary long enough to see to them up until now. Read More

I plan to stay two nights at Devils Tower National Monument. My next stop is Rapid City, SD on Sept 16, and I’m only a few hours drive from there.
I drive up to the visitors center. After looking at the exhibits, I walk the trail that circumnavigates the Tower. It’s only about a mile and half so I take my time to enjoy the area. Read More

On Monday I drive out the east entrance of Yellowstone to Cody, WY. I’m not sure exactly where I’m headed. In Cody I stop at the visitors center to get some info on the area. I decide to take a tour of the Big Horn Basin. Read More
