Prineville, OR

August 15, 2017

On my way back to the RV park yesterday, I had stopped at Fred Meyer to grocery shop and filled up the gas tank.  So this morning I am ready to hit the highway. After breakfast and coffee I drive through Florence and turn east on Hwy 126. This looks to be a nice easy drive through the Willamette Forest. Read More

Oregon – Coast or Inland?

Should I go inland? Or continue on the coast?

August 12, 2017

I’m at a critical decision point in my quest for sunshine!  When traveling on the Pacific coast, there are only a few good roads to take east over the mountains, especially with an RV.  Today I would be coming to Hwy 199, which goes inland to Grant’s Pass.  If I don’t take 199, then I am committed to traveling up the coast for a ways. Avenue of the Giants

August 10 – 11, 2017

My time was up at Humboldt County Fairgrounds, but I wanted to stay in this area a little longer to visit the redwood parks and the Avenue of the Giants.  After doing a little online research, I decided to move a few miles to the Bear River Casino in Fortuna. Read More

Exploring Ferndale

Tuesday is a stay at home day for me.  I was a little tired from the activity of the last few days and the long drive yesterday.  And it is rainy here today.  I’m still working on getting organized and figuring out the best storage arrangement for stuff, etc.  So that’s pretty much what I did today.  My campsite is very quiet.  I’m on the end of the row and looking out my back window is pasture land. Delta, UT to Fallon, NV

Hwy 50 from Delta, UT to Fallon, NV is named the Loneliest Road in the US.  It is 410 miles from Delta to Fallon, and there are only two towns – Ely and Eureka.  So the highway lives up to its name!  It is two lane blacktop with no shoulders mostly.  Only occasionally do you see other vehicles. From Colorado to Delta, UT

July 25 – 27, 2017

My appointment for the solar system install is for Friday, August 4th in California.  This isn’t the optimum time of the year to travel across western Colorado, Utah and Nevada.  Daytime temps were high 90s and even above 100.  So I wanted to get across this area as quickly as I could and get to the Sierra Nevada Mountains where it would be cooler.
